The Southern Investment Bonus is renewed for 2023 as well.
This is the tax credit in favor of companies that purchase new capital goods for use in production facilities located in southern or disadvantaged regions.
The renewal is included in the Budget Law 2023, which extends incentive measures aimed at businesses in the regions of Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Molise, Abruzzo, Sardinia and Sicily for another year.
But what is the Southern Bonus?
The Southern Investment Bonus is a benefit granted to companies that purchase new capital goods for production facilities located in the regions of Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia, Abruzzo and Molise.
It is granted in the form of a tax credit worth between 20 percent and 45 percent of the expenditure incurred, depending on the characteristics of the enterprises involved and the area where the production facility is located.
The latest change from an application point of view was introduced by Article 1, paragraph 175, of Budget Law 2022, which adjusted the geographical perimeter to the Regional Aid Map 2022 2027 by including the Molise Region, as well as identifying new credit ceilings.
To whom is it due?
The facility is available to small, medium and large enterprises that purchase capital goods new intended for production facilities located in the regions of Campania, Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily, Molise, Sardinia, and Abruzzo (as well as in the Earthquake Zone, which includes the area encompassed by the earthquake events of August 24, 2016 (Latium, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo) The list of SEZs in Italy can be found in this page.
